There has been a lot of concern for continued decline in honey bee populations. The Apiary Inspectors of America (AIA) Survey found the colony losses continue and the effects of Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) have not abated. There was a 14% loss over the last year and this represents an unsustainable trend.

I found this great tip in Lucky magazine last night on cleaning tarnished jewelry. From Lucky: Gina Nigrelli, designer of Jules Smith, a jewelry collection based in the Virgin Islands, learned this shockingly simple tip from her grandmother. You’ll need: Baking soda, aluminum foil and a glass casserole dish. How it’s done: Line the dish with foil and place your jewelry on top- just don’t overcrowd too much. Sprinkle with baking soda, cover with boiling water and let it soak for 10 minutes. “

There is a steady increase in "mortality inequality" -- a term for a widening gap in life expectancy -- between the richest and poorest counties in the United States from 1983 to 1999, according to a study released by researchers at Harvard University and the University of Washington.
